

Ron Gross
Head Coach
The 2008-2009 wrestling
season will see new leadership in Coach Ron Gross taking the reigns of the Wayne
Wrestling Program. Coach Gross is a 1986 Graduate of Wayne
Central High School. While at Wayne Ron was a 4X Class B Champion and a 1986 New
York State Tournament Runner-Up. Ron
continued on with a successful college career including 4X NYS Team, 4X NCAA
Qualifier, 2X NCAA Division III All-American and Captain of 2X
NCAA Division III National Championship Team at Ithaca College. Ron was Inducted
into the Ithaca College Athletic "Hall of Fame" in 2004. Ron's
extensive coaching experience includes; Head
Coach @ Wesleyan University (CT) 1990-1992, Assistant Coach @ Ithaca College
1993, Head Coach @ RIT 1993-1997 (NYS College Coach of the Year in 1997),
Assistant Coach @ Wayne Central H.S. 1997-2001, Head Coach @ Brighton H.S.
2001-2005 and Assistant HS Coach and EagleForce Club Coach @ Wayne 2005-2008. Currently a social studies teacher at the
Twelve Corners Middle School in the Brighton School District, Coach Gross
resides in Walworth with his wife Lisa, daughter Carly and sons Trevor and
Tyler.

Ted Hargarther
Assistant Coach
Ted Hargarther is a veteran of the Wayne Central wrestling program. He has served as the junior varsity coach of the Eagles for 25 seasons, working for ten years with former coach Chris Bourne and for the next fifteen seasons with former coach Scott Freischlag. Ted is a 1976 graduate of Wayne Central. While in high school, he was an exceptional wrestler under the coaching of Dawson Raymo. Hargarther's outstanding high school wrestling career led to many victories and a county championship. Hargarther is known for his ability to teach fundamental wrestling skills and to evolve young grapplers into seasoned athletes. Coach Hargarther has been recognized for his dedication to the sport of wrestling by being selected as the 2003 recipient of the Terry Robert Justice Memorial Award.
